Pilates is a mind-body exercise that requires core stability, strength, and flexibility, while bringing attention to muscle control, posture, and breathing.

At Red Cedar Physiotherapy we offer 2 small group mat-based Pilates classes taught by our Pilates Instructor Sophie. Fitness Pilates runs Wed at 9:30 and is an all level fitness class designed to get you moving. Sophie will give options for each exercise to tailor it to your needs and capacity.

If you've already embraced Pilates and crave a higher intensity and challenge, come join our Advanced Pilates class Mon at 4:30. Building upon fundamental exercises, this class increases the difficulty to enhance your strength, mobility, and coordination. With a quicker pace and a focus on exercise progressions, you'll be able to push your boundaries and further refine your Pilates practice.

If you’re looking for an individualized option we also have private Pilates classes with either a Pilates Instructor, or a Physiotherapist. These private classes will utilize our Pilates equipment. The equipment helps to create assistance or resistance to movement in order to give the support your body needs to isolate and strengthen specific muscles, or to learn new and more powerful movement patterns.

We are equipped with mats, a Reformer, a Tower (similar to a Cadillac or Trapeze table), a Core Align and different arcs.

Pilates bookings are 1-hour long.

With a gift for seeing the subtleties of people’s movement and a strong passion for teaching others how to improve their bodies, Jocelyn is well known for her honest and detailed approach to treatment.

Since graduating in 2005, Jocelyn has avidly pursued extensive orthopedic training in advanced manual therapy techniques (Level 3), and in 2012 became a certified Gunn IMS practitioner (using acupuncture needles to treat neuropathic pain).

Jocelyn believes directing treatment at the root cause of dysfunction is the key to successful rehab and this often requires looking beyond the area of pain to find what’s driving the issue. Her most recent training in the Connect Therapy Model and Thoracic Ring Approach with internationally renowned physio Dr. LJ Lee has given her a platform to determine each person’s driver.

Jocelyn has a special interest in treating shoulder, knee and foot injuries, but ultimately treats the body as a whole. As a former internationally competitive ski racer she owns a wealth of athletic knowledge and understands the complexities of returning to sport following an injury. When not at work she can be found outdoors playing in the mountains on her bike and skis, or in the pottery studio.
